A family member got an Android phone that has the lock/power button on the back. While this is easy to press with a finger while holding the phone, there's no way to activate the device without picking it up. This is silly.

It should at least keep the touch-recognition of the screen on while not detecting that it's within proximity of a pocket or something like that.

Oh @levisan sounds like a classic case of engineering by committee.

That button placement had a bushel full of meetings, train loads of texts/phone calls. 8x10 glossy photos too.

You can also bet there were a pack of lawyers/insurance agents circling everyone.

@levisan I have had this feature on two phones and find I prefer it as long as the phone also has tap to wake.
