Grapes were first planted in what is today the Lake Wisconsin AVA by Agoston Haraszthy in 1847.
The Wisconsin Ledge AVA has over 20 wineries with about 400 acres of vines.
Many cold-hardy grapes are grown here including Marechal Foch, La Crescent, Frontenac, Marquette, and Petite Pearl.
The Niagara Escarpment and Lake Michigan frame the AVA, providing great growing conditions.
We have glacial soil over limestone bedrock with a mineral-rich aquifer.
@Johncdvorak Wine is on me if you are ever here

Two years ago, a customer ran into the front of my store.
They hit wall so hard, they moved the giant, very heavy freezer, knocking over and breaking a bunch of the bottles that were on top of it and ejecting items that were in the freezer.
Not a drunk driver. An old lady who thought she had her foot on the brake when it was on the gas.

Cleaning up that day sucked very, very much.

My store did an exclusive, collaborative brew with Stillmank Brewery.
We have, many times, picked out a specific barrel of bourbon we like and purchased all the whiskey in that barrel for an exclusive store release.
Sometimes, we get the actual physical barrel too.
We called up the brewer of Stillmank and he picked up the barrel to age his beer in our barrel.

Strong intensity of flavor, balanced, ABV ~12-13%.

I bough 6 of these 22 oz bottles at $16.99 each. Worth every penny.

Wtf we got our first Oktoberfest beer in this week?
I guess summer is over? 🤷

I’m back home after an eventful vacation to Utah.
In 5 days, we hiked around the house, did a mozzarella cheese making class, went bowling, brunch and a tour at High West Distillery, made homemade pizzas, hiked at Stewart Cascades Trail, walked around Sundance, went to the Museum of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and FamilySearch genealogy center, lunch and a beer at Grid City Beer Works, played multiple games of Five Crowns, and did family movie night.
I’m tired.

Family search in Salt Lake City. Doing some research into my family’s history.
