Legally this was the right move but with all the vacant housing and substandard housing why can't we let the homeless live there? With a rental agreement and a small rent fee one can avoid the issue of squatting. It's just sad.

@PG_Kelly you need consent of the owner. And there is nothing stopping property owners from renting out a property for like $5 a month.
@ned @PG_Kelly Two things: (1) There are tax consequences for renting sub-market. Be careful. (2) One single case of meth lab operation in your house, and you're going to find it would have been cheaper to tear it down and walk away.
