Pinned toot

No Agenda BBS is now reopened for new user registration! New user password: "LGY5510". Note, due to a quirk in ssh behavior you will be prompted for this TWICE - immediately upon connection and then once more during account creation.

The SSH lockouts have been fixed, this was due to "new" appearing in the names.can file, triggering a temp ban for 10 minutes on any failed login with that account and thus blocking new user registration.

2.0 is still under heavy development and on track for an end of year alpha release/call for contributors. The base templating, layout and rendering engine is stable, if wanting for polish. Next step is to improve input handling, session management, and create some additional UI components and basic forms for standard functionality. Next, RBAC and integrations

As promised, from scratch 2.0 is under development (as time permits). Hoping to have a basic but functional prototype in about a month, at which point the project will be open sourced and welcoming contributors. Stay tuned, and brush up on your Python3 if interested.

@NoAgendaBBS
I voted. YAY!
And now I tooted from the BBS.
Cool.

New poll posted on the General board. Appreciate everyone's feedback for the future plans for the BBS.

Who needs to stream in 4k when you can telnet in .080 x .025k?

PSA: Response time for any support requests may be slow the next few days as @SirMorganANSI_C will be a bit busy, but he'll get back to you as quickly as possible.

I must have put a decimal point in the wrong place or something, I always do that!

tip of the day:

Spotty internet in the OTG retreat resulting in frequently hung SSH sessions on ? Try "<ENTER> ~ ." (that is "ENTER, tilde, period") to force disconnect your session without needing to completely kill your terminal!

update:
* Fixed: New user password input adjusted for fewer column terminals
* Fixed: DST timezone issue fixed on posts to boards

Tip: Your selected shell(UI) and editor can be changed in the Synchronet Classic Shell via the (D)efault User Config.

No Agenda BBS tip of the day:
Your NetMail via the BBS <HANDLE>@noagendabbs.com is fully functional, you can use it as a normal email address, or to sign up for garbage spammy services without polluting your regular inbox.

Any know how to produce ANSI (.ans) BBS art[1] and might be interested in creating/converting something to replace the default Synchronet logon splash for the BBS?

Any assistance from the slightly more artistically inclined would be greatly appreciated.

Due to some difficulty with the feedback step in new user registration, this step has been disabled for any future new users. Any accounts that failed to complete this step have been reactivated, so you should now be able to login as if you had completed it.

I can't easily change password requirements without editing the source and recompiling the BBS, so I've just added an explanatory note in the prompt. Requirements are 4-40 characters, no use of any of your user info in the password, and no obvious strings like "ASDF" or "1234". Other than that it shouldn't be too strict. Users who registered previously during the password change lock period can now do so under your default user config.

No Agenda BBS tip of the day:
If you enjoy interacting in the message boards, DDMsgReader with its built-in pager and more organized interface is a much nicer experience.

Until it can be made a default reader option, it can be found in the external programs section under Main > DDMsgReader.

Round 1 is officially closed. Jiggling some handles and hope to reopen within ~48 hours. Existing accounts are still accessible and have also been provided access to DOVE-Net and GameNet. Beta test users please give me any feedback you have via the BBS boards or here through @SirMorganANSI_C.

If you missed the reg window and are dying to get in there and think you might be able to help improve NABBS before launch, send a NetMail to [email protected] and we can probably find you a seat.

The round 1 small batch registration 7x match only lasts until 10 PM EST, so you better do it NOW!!

There were some glitches, but I'll jiggle the handle on a few pain points and reopen registration once fixed:
* SSH downtime after forced disconnect
* Stupid password complexity requirements
* New user pass/magic word redundancy confusion
* [Insert your complaint here by replying]

Hopefully round 2 will be artisanal.

On the overall scale of launch success from "Perfect" to "Complete Disaster", I'd say that scored roughly a "let's get social". I will leave new registrations open for a bit longer, since so far @Dagwood has been the only one clever enough to successfully navigate the registration process, thus making him frontrunner for the vice sysop position.

Issues: node lockout due to disconnects, stupid password complexity rules

Contacting my BBS guru (he's really old) for advice on these.

No Agenda BBS has DROPPED a small batch beta registration period, new regs will close in an indeterminate but short period of time to limit users until I can get feedback and sort out any kinks.

ssh -p 3333 [email protected]
(Telnet 3323 available, but ssh recommended.)

Currently only 10 lines, that will be expanded if necessary.

Contact @SirMorganANSI_C or the sysop mh on the BBS with any questions.

For those who actually read this far, the new user password for registration is "ITM!".
